My name is Scott McPheters and two years ago I weighed 270 pounds. I was considered obese, had high blood pressure and heartburn, and my glucose level was pre-diabetic. Really! Just ask to see my ID badge if you don’t believe me. I was big around the belly, as most men get, and my belly was getting in the way. I had just turned 40 and was out of shape, out of breath, and stressed out. At the time I was a member of LA Fitness and went once or twice a week. My standard routine was a cardio warm-up on the treadmill, elliptical or bike and then free weights or machines. I was bored, still heavy, and frustrated by my lack of progress. My diet was pretty good, so I knew that my exercise routines just weren’t cutting it.
This past year, I competed in the CrossFit Open. I currently weigh 225lbs. I eat a modified paleo, though I am considering going strict again. I am stronger, healthier and faster. When I go hiking I’m not out of breath. I feel like an athlete! CrossFit has given me so much and I am honored to share it with others.
